Alexander von Humboldt

He was born in Berlin on September 14, 1769, and died on May 6, 1859. He was a polymath, that is, geographer, astronomer, humanist, naturalist and Prussian explorer, younger brother linguist and Minister Wilhelm von Humboldt. Alexander is considered the father of universal modern geography.
He was explorer. He searched, in his trip, progress in the principle of nature (before Humboldt, the geography search it only seeing at level sea), going to mountain. Whit this action, he changed the old conservative vision of geography.
His main work, where he wrote everything he learned in his travels, it was "Cosmos".
I like him, because was a romantic traveler, that is, he was looking for the harmony. And I like him because he knew about too many areas of sciences. His work is really important to us, because in it, we can found too many studies, innovating for his epoch, because, in this time, there was little information known about America.
He may be wrong about some subject, but he was an important referent to geography.
